On the morning of Monday 31st March 2008 while getting ready to go to work, Laura Jane Ashworth
started having a very bad asthma attack. While her mum Rachel Leake called 999 and tried desperately
to revive her, Laura's airways blocked and she stopped breathing. On arrival at Bradford Royal
Infirmary ICU, the doctors confirmed Lauras brain had been starved of oxygen for so long that she
was completely brain damaged. After 3 days on life support... there was nothing more they could do.
You were only allowed 3 people at your bedside at any one time but they couldn't control us...
no one dare tell us to go! The most important people in your life were all around your bed in ICU,
we held your hand, stroked your face, I so badly wanted to pluck your eyebrows, you would have been
gutted knowing everyone saw them like that LOL!!! We laughed until we cried and cried until we
laughed! yet we all knew... once we walked out of that door... we would never see you again.
To rub salt in the wound, organ transplant authorities refused to allow Laura's Kidneys and
Pancreas go to her sick mother, who has been suffering kidney failure since becoming pregnant with
Laura! Rachel attends St Lukes hospital to have dialysis 3 times a week. Laura's dying wish was
for her mother to have one of her kidneys... what a beautiful gift this would have been to a mother
who has just lost her only child in such tragic circumstances, for Rachel to know that part of Laura
was still living on inside her and for Macie to grow up with a healthy Grandma.
Laura was my best friend, she was my soul mate, she would have been my sister-in-law at one point...
and she was the loving mother to my Neice Macie Faith Murch. She lived at Brogden Hall Farm,
Bradford, with her beautiful mum Rachel, Grandfather Jack and 2year old daughter Macie. She was a
beautiful person, full of happiness and laughter, she didn't hate anyone, never had a bad word
to say about anyone, she loved her friends and would do anything for anyone but more so, she loved
her mother and daughter so very much.
Laura had only just turned 21 just 3 weeks prior to her death. She loved life and lived it to the
full. Her words of wisdom to everyone she met were "Live life to the full, you don't get a
second chance" how right was she!!! and she sure lived her life to the absolute fullest!!! I
just hope your looking down with no regrets girl!!! Macie loves you unconditionally, she will never
forget you, ever. Each night she stays with us we say goodnight and blow kisses to the stars. She
says Bob Marley is looking after you.

Well, I had a good day with Macie moo yesterday. We went shopping for a new baby snake... just went to price them up really, seen a couple we liked. Then we went to Pizza hut and stuffed our faces then finished the day at the cinema, went to watch Ice Age 3. She loved it. Had to get up twice though cos she needed the toilet hahaha. It was good to have her to myself for the day though.

Mum and dad go away with Macie this afternoon, got the house to myself hehehe but ya know me, no parties, i'd be too scared of anyone breaking anything or ruining anything! you know what I'm like with my OCD ha ha ha

Hiya Lora, just thought I'd come on and fill you in on the latest... nowt new really, same old rubbish to be honest with ya. Our holidays are booked, Aiya Napa and Tenerife, god it's gunna be a right laugh, I know you'll be with us all the way, shaking that little rear of yours hahaha I miss our mad nights out, I miss our proper random convrations at silly o clock in a morning, I miss me you and Macie lazing in bed all day on a Sunday, just miss you and wish you could come back for one last night out... If we knew you ouldn't be with us the week after that night at the mill we would have made it even more mental than what it was... that was the best night out ever... and what I'd give to turn back time and do it again... all in our tutu's... when we were all down at sick niks gettin ready hahha when we were breaking them glow sticks up and splashing them all over her walls and when we turned the lights off it looked like paint all over the place hahaha NIck went divvy hahaha awwww they were the good times... the good old days... I just hope my memories of you never go away. That will be a bit hard with Macie around... she's a proper mini you! How lucky are we that you had her! otherwise we'd ave nothing! just pictures... I've still got that peice of net off your tutu that fell off whn I brought it upto the chapel of rest... I will treasure that forever!!!! god I miss ya Lora xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
