On the morning of Monday 31st March 2008 while getting ready to go to work, Laura Jane Ashworth
started having a very bad asthma attack. While her mum Rachel Leake called 999 and tried desperately
to revive her, Laura's airways blocked and she stopped breathing. On arrival at Bradford Royal
Infirmary ICU, the doctors confirmed Lauras brain had been starved of oxygen for so long that she
was completely brain damaged. After 3 days on life support... there was nothing more they could do.
You were only allowed 3 people at your bedside at any one time but they couldn't control us...
no one dare tell us to go! The most important people in your life were all around your bed in ICU,
we held your hand, stroked your face, I so badly wanted to pluck your eyebrows, you would have been
gutted knowing everyone saw them like that LOL!!! We laughed until we cried and cried until we
laughed! yet we all knew... once we walked out of that door... we would never see you again.
To rub salt in the wound, organ transplant authorities refused to allow Laura's Kidneys and
Pancreas go to her sick mother, who has been suffering kidney failure since becoming pregnant with
Laura! Rachel attends St Lukes hospital to have dialysis 3 times a week. Laura's dying wish was
for her mother to have one of her kidneys... what a beautiful gift this would have been to a mother
who has just lost her only child in such tragic circumstances, for Rachel to know that part of Laura
was still living on inside her and for Macie to grow up with a healthy Grandma.
Laura was my best friend, she was my soul mate, she would have been my sister-in-law at one point...
and she was the loving mother to my Neice Macie Faith Murch. She lived at Brogden Hall Farm,
Bradford, with her beautiful mum Rachel, Grandfather Jack and 2year old daughter Macie. She was a
beautiful person, full of happiness and laughter, she didn't hate anyone, never had a bad word
to say about anyone, she loved her friends and would do anything for anyone but more so, she loved
her mother and daughter so very much.
Laura had only just turned 21 just 3 weeks prior to her death. She loved life and lived it to the
full. Her words of wisdom to everyone she met were "Live life to the full, you don't get a
second chance" how right was she!!! and she sure lived her life to the absolute fullest!!! I
just hope your looking down with no regrets girl!!! Macie loves you unconditionally, she will never
forget you, ever. Each night she stays with us we say goodnight and blow kisses to the stars. She
says Bob Marley is looking after you.

IT WAS SO SAD TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MUM,I WAS STEPPING OF THE PLANE IN MELBOURNE WHEN I GOT THE TEX OF SEAN.TELLING ME,IT MADE ME FEEL SO DOWN AND SAD,I KNOW YOUR MUM WAS NOT WELL AND HAD LOADS OF PROBLEMS,BUT IM SURE IF THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN HER YOUR KIDNEY LAURA SHE WOULD HAVE PULLED THROUGH AND BE HEAR TODAY,GUESS WHAT,THE LAW CHANGES IN MARCH FOR KIDNEY DONARS TO DO EXACTLY WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE FOR YOUR MUM,GREAT,BUT SORRY ITS TOO LATE FOR RACHEAL,RACHEAL WAS A GOOD WOMAN AND A GREAT GRANDMA TO MACIE,SHE WILL BE SADLEY MISSED.MACIE IS DOING REALY GOOD,AS YOU WILL KNOW IM SURE.YOUR GRANDAD WILL CARRY ON SEING MACIE REGARDLESS,HE MUST BE A REAL STRONG PERSON TO GO THROUGH WHAT HE HAS BEEN THROUGH,MISS YOU BOTH VERY MUCH,LOVE FROM ALLEN ANGIE.XXXX

another sad day
hi laura its another sad year for all of you family and macie first her mummy than her grandma and at such a young age but so was you only 21 and your mum not much older than 42 its a real shame but now she's with you the one she missed so much and our hearts go out to you both and your family and macie. Only 3 and she's lost her mummy and grandma so now she's at peace send our love to her but she will now that we loved her very much. We didnt have chance to say goodbye and thats a very sad thought, but you both no that macie will be looked after and loved and we wont let her forget both of you. lots lots love angie allen macie and all.xxxxxxxxxx
